Welcome from the independent chair

Andrew Christie, Independent Chair, Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board

I am delighted to be the Independent Chair for the Lambeth Safeguarding Children Board. This is a part time role of about three days each month.

In May 2016 I retired from being the Tri-borough (Westminster, Hammersmith and Fulham and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea) Executive Director of Children's Services, having been in social work for about 40 years.

In December 2015 I was appointed as the Commissioner for Children's Social Care in Birmingham and I have also been appointed to Chair the Adoption Leadership Board. Both these roles are also part time.

My mission is to work across the LSCB partnership to safeguard children and young people in Lambeth. Engaging with the young people we seek to protect is a personal priority and in particular listening to the most vulnerable.

Best wishes
Andrew Christie
